Features

The master’s program combines three objectives for talent development:

Combine language and professional knowledge to cultivate talents with multiple specializations.
Master the essence of French humanities and develop independent thinking skills.
Develop a multicultural perspective and international mobility.

The faculty has four different areas of specialization: Literature, culture, French teaching and linguistics, and translation.
Students can apply to student exchange programs signed with sister universities such as the well-known European universities New Sorbonne University Paris 3, University Paris 8, Aix-Marseille University, and the Belgian Université catholique de Louvain; in addition, our program has established a dual degree program with Université catholique de Louvain in the fields of “Linguistics and Pedagogy” and “Communication, Culture and Translation” to provide students with a better humanities education and to develop strong international mobility and employability.
Students are encouraged to participate in international symposia jointly organized by the department and sister universities, helping students take the first step towards becoming a scholar and systematically present their research findings at different stages.
The master’s thesis acts as a demonstration of the students’ mastery of academic knowledge. Therefore, students write their thesis in accordance with the thesis writing regulations of European universities in order to enable students to master the rigorous structure and content of academic research and meet academic standards, while at the same time learning to integrate and apply their acquired knowledge.
Students and faculty have a harmonious relationship; in order to maintain the mission of our Catholic University, we emphasize the development of students’ character and provide timely assistance and advice.

Admission Evaluation

Interview (in person or by video conference). After the deadline for application, applicants will be notified by the department of the schedule. The applicant must provide contact information, phone number and email address. Make sure that we can reach you during the daytime (Taiwan time).

Autobiography (French)
Research plan (French)
Certificate of the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) of level A2 or above, or an internationally accepted certificate of an equivalent level (not required)

Remarks

Courses are taught in Chinese and French. Most textbooks are in French. Most instructors communicate well in Chinese or French.
FJCU Center of Chinese Language and Culture offers fee-paying Mandarin learning courses. The International Student Center offers 6-hour free evening Mandarin courses per week. International students will be assigned buddies to help them boost their Mandarin proficiency.
